I recently traveled to Montreal to attend the NSIA tradeshow, but like any photog I made sure I had some extra time to do some sightseeing and shooting. Unfortunately, the temperature was an average of -18 celsius while I was there, so most of my shooting was limited to indoor venues.
The majority of my pictures were taken inside the Montreal Biodome, it’s a pretty amazing place, and I would make sure to visit if you will ever be in Montreal. (one work of caution….the “rainforest” section is about 30 degrees and so humid you can almost drink the air, so make sure you don’t go in there with a cold camera or lenses) I filled up 4 gigs of RAW pictures, mostly telephoto shots (I would recommend having one to get some good closeups) For the most part, the animals are not in any sort of cage, so it’s an excellent opportunity for some wildlife shots. Here are a few of my favorites……

There are a couple in there from the greenhouses of the botanical garden, but the gardens themselves were covered in snow so it looks like I’ll be back there this summer to shoot the gardens.

Well I’ll admit……I’m completely new to this blog thing, and completely new to this concept of RSS. It seemed pretty confusing at first, but after doing some research it’s really not……..and it turns out that it’s an excellent way to drive traffic to your site. So for those of you who have found it a little too intimidating to jump into, I can offer this advice. Go to http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/ it’s a blog itself, with a listing of the top 55 RSS feed sites to list your blog on. RSS Hugger is probably my favorite so far, very clean and simple to use, just list your URL and category to get on their blog listing. They’ve got over 1000 feeds, viewable through a search, random, or top 100. They get a lot of traffic so I would recommend it as a good site to start with.

Well, after several delays the site is finally up and running! Feel free to browse around the galleries, check out the blogs, and leave a comment if you feel like it.
The blog should be updated at least once a week, hopefully with pictures if we get the time to go out shooting, but at least with some info about future updates, events, etc. So check back often!!!
Galleries will be updated whenever we get a “worthy” shot, and all images are available to be purchased as prints, framed or unframed, if there is a shot that catches your eye.
Mostly, this is just a site to celebrate photography in Newfoundland and some of the unique, extraordinary photo opportunities on this island. It is a constant work in progress so keep checking back for new photos, features and info.
